Time to Travel On

Day 7 - May 12th

We left Les and Arlene and headed out on our next destination.  Today's drive was from Pearland, TX to College Station, TX...a distance of approximately 116 miles, all in Texas.

However, we had an important stop to make along the way which was to meet a dear friend, Pam Schiller.

Pam and Robin have been good friends for over 15 years.  Pam is an early childhood writer and presenter and is well respected in the early childhood community. She lives in Cypress, TX which was directly on our route to College Station.  We met at Saltgrass Steak House and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and her company.  It was nice to talk about schools today and teachers' needs.  Our time went by too quickly, but our paths will continually cross.

After leaving Pam, we drove on to College Station and checked into our Holiday Inn. We relaxed a little while before we set out to find something "light" for dinner.  We decided on a sandwich/deli/pizza/bakery called Blue Baker.  We each got a tuna sandwich and I added lobster bisque soup.  I thought about my friend, Kris, who is my soup buddy!  Although the food was ok, it was nothing to write home about.  My lobster bisque at Barfly is beyond compare to this cup of soup.  At least we each picked up a bakery good for our sweet tooth later in the evening.

When we left the restaurant, we headed to Starbucks, of course! Then we went to check out the location of the George Bush Presidential Library on Texas A & M University campus.

.

We headed back to the hotel and crashed for the night.  Of course, the whirlpool was broken and the fitness room was too crowded. Guess we lucked out another night.
